Dewormers ;
Dewormers are the drugs given to human or cattle ,for getting rid of parasites which are harmful to them. This process of giving dewormers to human or cattle is called as Deworming. Deworming plays a keyrole in cattle management .Deworming reduces the mortality rate in sheep and goat.
In small cattle(sheep& goat) Deworming shedule is as follows
1.Summer Season(April/may):
In this season mostly cattle are attacked by Tapeworms.
Precautions:
a. Livertonic should be given after two or three days .
2.Rainy Season:(After may)
In rainy season lung worms are activated in the cattle.
In Rainy season Ivermectin oral solution Bp(vet) 0.08% w/v should be given to cattle for getting rid of lungworms.
3.After Rainy season :(In oct)
In this time Trichlabendazole 5% & Ivermectin 0.1% are given to cattle. This drug kills Luke worms and Lung worms.
4.November/december:
Closantel 15% oral solution is given to avoid fluke(water observed at chin part) in cattle.
Note: This drug shouldnot be given to kids(sheep or goat).
5.January/February:
NILZAN (Varbac Company) dewormer is used on JAN/FEB month.This works effectively on all parasites like tape worms,luke worms& fluke.It is a broad spectrum anthelmintic.
Precautions:
1.This drugs are used under guidens of vets.
2. Dewormers should be given when cattle are with empty stomach.
3.Feed & water is not given after deworming of cattle, for two to three hours.
4.Deworming is not done to pregnant cattle.
5.Its recommended to test the feces of cattle to know severity of worms.
6.Some medications are may be required for same cattle after deworming.(as deworming causes motions & cattle may lose some energy)
